Klein College Merit Application

Use this form to apply for a faculty merit award for the 2024-2025 academic year. The information you submit will be transmitted to both the chair of your department and the Klein College Dean's Office, and you will receive a copy at the email address you provide in the form.

The review period for merit is from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.

Note that to be eligible for merit you must have been a full-time faculty member for at least one semester during the relevant academic year (from July 1 to June 30) and have submitted the Annual Report of Faculty Achievement (AROFA) for that year.

IMPORTANT NOTE 1: This form allows you to "Save and Continue Later" before you submit your application information (see the link at the end of the form), but you can also write out all of your responses in advance in a separate Word or text file and then paste them into this form when you're ready to submit them.

IMPORTANT NOTE 2: You can include links to other documents and websites in your responses as long as you write out the complete and accurate URL.

Note that merit is designed to reward contributions and efforts in teaching, research/creative work and service that are outstanding—over and above the normal expectations for a full-time faculty member.

NOTE: Good teaching is assumed. But good SFFs are not sufficient to be awarded merit.

Some examples of what may warrant meritorious service in teaching are the following: teaching responsibilities or innovations above and beyond normal teaching load; above normal responsibilities advising doctoral or master’s students; and significant course or curriculum development.

NOTE: Work considered meritorious will be awarded merit only once; typically, this means the year in which the work is published, presented, distributed, broadcast, or shown. Work “in process” or “in press” is not ready for merit recognition and should not be submitted in this form. Further, the quality of the publisher, journal, conference, etc., for research and creative work is part of the consideration for meritorious work. Normally conference presentations are not eligible.

NOTE: Outstanding service includes projects that are clearly definable and are above and beyond the service expected of faculty members in the ordinary discharge of their responsibilities. Faculty members who receive compensation or release time for a service responsibility are not eligible to receive a merit award for that service.
